medialoopster version 6.4 brings major new features that greatly simplify remote work:
Support for proxy editing workflows in Adobe Premiere Pro allows remote workstations to be quickly and easily integrated into the existing production environment. Centralized rendering of remotely created films is also possible.
In addition to other improvements, the administration area has been completely redesigned and support for automatic keyword tagging with Amazon Rekognition has been added.
Looking ahead to future versions of medialoopster, there are several features that can be enabled in the administration as “beta features” for specific groups or users.
1 Feature Highlights
1.1 Proxy editing with Adobe Premiere Pro
With the new medialoopster version 6.4 in conjunction with Premiere Panel 1.5, it is now possible to use Premiere Proxy editing based on medialoopster proxies.
The proxy files created by medialoopster can be used directly in Adobe Premiere Pro. This eliminates the need for additional, time-consuming creation of proxy files.
This allows both remote editing workflows and editing projects where shared storage is not available on the editing client.
1.1.1 Remote rendering with Premiere Pro and Adobe Media Encoder
In addition to proxy-based editing, medialoopster now also allows central rendering of editing projects that use medialoopster proxy files, either partially or completely.
Controlled by medialoopster, automatic, central rendering takes place using the high-resolution material.
1.2 New user interface in the administration area
The administration area in medialoopster has been completely redesigned and, in addition to a tidier appearance, offers a number of improvements that make asset management easier.
1.2.1 Improvements in the “Current Assets” view
- Multiple assets can be selected using ‘Shift’.
- You can filter by “Archived” status.
- You can filter by “In Production” status.
1.3 Beta features
Future versions of medialoopster will feature a new user interface, which is currently still in the testing stage. This new user interface provides access to several new features that are already part of medialoopster.
These features are referred to as “beta features” in the release and update notes.
1.4 Simultaneous download of multiple asset hi-res files
In addition to downloading the hi-res files of individual assets, you can now also select multiple assets and project assets for hi-res download. The download selection is prepared on the server side and can be downloaded as a ZIP file.
As a beta feature, it is also possible to download the content of favorite lists in high resolution.
1.5 Asset Event Messaging
If medialoopster is used in a production environment together with other systems, these systems can now be immediately informed of changes to medialoopster assets. Internal medialoopster events (create, edit, delete) are used to trigger the sending of notifications.
These notifications can be published automatically in the RabbitMQ message broker. This allows external services to respond directly to these events.
1.6 Improved proxy download
When downloading video proxy files, server-side preparation now takes place, even for individual downloads. This improves the reliability of downloads and ensures that the proxy files contain the correct timecode information.
1.6.1 Proxy download of favorites list content
The content of favorites lists can now be downloaded as proxy files. The proxies are packaged in a ZIP file for download.
1.7 Sharing project assets (beta feature)
medialoopster users can now share project assets with other productions via the browser interface. All linked media assets and files are included.
1.7.1 Asynchronous sharing of project assets
Project assets can now also be shared in multi-site installations where the storage of the target production is not available at the source production site.
1.8 Further improvements
- The internal components for video processing have been updated. This has improved performance and stability and expanded format support.
- When using API integration for linear ingests, simple metadata import via Sidecar XML is now possible. This increases flexibility and makes integration even easier.
- Client license seats for Premiere Panels are now automatically released upon logout or inactivity.
- Content analysis processes can be started automatically after assets are created.
- Unique URLs can be generated for video, audio, and image assets. These links can be used to access the respective asset directly (beta feature).
- Video assets can be played in full-screen mode (beta feature).
2 Bug fixes
- Fixed an issue where XSLT files were not created immediately after the first upload.
- An error could occur when deleting multiple XSLT files at the same time. This issue has been fixed.
- An error has been fixed in the video player that caused the positioning to be incorrect in some cases when clicking on shots.
- An error could occur in the administration area when deleting download limits in the production settings. This issue has been fixed.
